For most of my life, I lived disconnected from my body. The only thing that connected me to me was dancing, my safe space from the drama at home, until my body took dancing away from me.
As a child, I experienced emotional trauma I didn’t yet have the tools to process, on top of that I had to eat food I didn't like and was allergic to topped with an environment that kept me in constant anxiety, fear and frustration. Like so many of us, I learned to survive by pushing down my emotions, pushing through the pain, and performing like I had it all together.
But underneath the high-energy jobs, the travels, and the smile—I was hurting.
Behind the scenes, I was navigating chronic illness, fatigue, depression, pain, and the silent weight of trauma held in my body.
I worked for years in high-pressure roles so my nervous system was always on. I was stuck in a cycle of burnout, anxiety, inflammation, hormonal chaos, weight gain, weight loss, illnesses, surgeries, emotional eating, and the list is endless...
I started seeing hundreds of doctors and went through thousands of tests and surgeries and spent all my hard-earned money. Most doctors knew nothing, some misdiagnosed me, some wanted to cut me open to see what was up, some collected a whole list of my illnesses, some questioned me, most of them treated me like s***, humiliated me and I was the last thing they cared about, some told me I am perfectly fine... No doctors asked me how I actually felt. The only thing they gave me was an insane amount of antibiotics which I have been against all my life because I know my body cannot handle them...The last time I listened to a doctor or took antibiotic was when the ambulance had to take me to the ER coz I fell into a shock, and turned out I was overdosed! (I was taking the exact dose that was prescribed to me...) So I was done with Western medicine.
All I felt was physical and emotional pain, for years I've been looking like a 7-month pregnant woman with acne and hair loss (just to say the least of my symptoms) desperately trying to understand why.
After holistic healers, massages, psychologists, therapies, alternative medicine, ayurveda, diets that are not for humans, or simply starving I started feeling better.
That’s when I discovered somatic healing, the psychology of eating, and a deeper mind-body-soul connection. I deep dove into course after course to understand it all. Having studied physical education and attaining a trainer bachelor's degree made it easier for me to connect the pieces.
And slowly—everything began to shift.
I learned that trauma lives in the body. That binge eating wasn’t a willpower issue, it was a nervous system cry for safety. That healing isn’t about fighting your body—it’s about listening to it. That food is actually the strongest medicine.
Now? I moved to Spain, changed my lifestyle entirely, and started putting myself and my healing first.
I finally feel safe in my body and proud of how I live and serve. I am still healing, I am human, and healing is a LONG journey, I have setbacks and I have bad days but I have the tools now, but most importantly I learned to accept my body the way it is and I listen to it when it's communicating through symptoms.
And so, emBody with Bettina was born—first as a way to track my journey and survive, then as a brand and business to help others reconnect with themselves too. A digital business that aligns with my values.
And the best part? I get to help humans like YOU come back to their bodies, their truth, and their freedom too.
